Most of us have probably gone through a really difficult phase where we needed someone else to uphold us. We needed their support, love and kindness.
Perhaps it was the death of a loved one, or going through a significant illness, or maybe losing a job. Maybe it was just a time like now when the familiar is gone, and we just feel lost.
To be sure, this is a time unlike any other in our lifetimes. Churches are closed. Mass is only available via livestream. We are separated from those we love and care about.
Moreover, we face a threat we cannot see, touch, hear, taste or smell. That alone is a cause for stress and anxiety. But we must remember we have a strength we cannot see, touch, hear, taste or smell. That is the Holy Spirit.
Our faith tells us that love is stronger than death. Saint Paul tells us nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. And while we cannot receive the Eucharist, we can still be the Body of Christ for one another.
Let us pray.
Dear Jesus, We know that we are always in your presence. We know that you love us beyond all our ability to understand. During these days, help us to remember you uphold us with your grace. We make this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.
