Don’t Get Stuck
It is not at all difficult to imagine why Peter and Andrew might have wanted Jesus to hang around their hometown a little longer. First, there was the scare they experienced with Peter’s mother-in-law and her illness. Perhaps Peter (and his wife if she was still around) wanted to make sure everything was ok. Maybe Peter and Andrew wanted to revel in the moment with the town being so excited about Jesus.
But they move on. The temptation for us can be to stay in the happy place forever. But Jesus tells us in today’s gospel, “Don’t get stuck.” Keep growing, keep getting to know me, keep helping others to know me.
