Though much is the same in terms of the pandemic, I take great joy in today. Easter is here. Jesus is risen, He is truly risen! Alleluia!
While the arrival of Easter Sunday is not the end of the pandemic, it does signal something far more important. That no matter how great the suffering, Jesus has conquered sin and death. The victory has been won! Jesus has triumphed.
And so perhaps I feel so wonderful today because I am filled with hope and joy. I have confidence in the promises. I have confidence that Jesus is Lord, risen from the dead, the conqueror of sin and death!
And in this is a lesson for us. There is a way to view the world. And it is through the eyes of hope given to us by God. Because Jesus is risen from the dead, we can hope in the new life that awaits us. Because Jesus is risen from the dead, we know that love is stronger than evil and death. Because Jesus is risen from the dead, we know we are all made in God’s image and likeness. Perhaps most of all, because Jesus is risen from the dead, we know we are all in this together, that we are not alone, because we are in the presence of God and in the presence of each other.
Perhaps today you might take time to think of all those people you love and care about, even if you are physically distant from them. Think about how the power of their love hasa changed you and you them.
Let us pray.
Dear Jesus, you are indeed risen from the dead! You are the conqueror of sin and death and our Savior. In your resurrection, you provide us the hope of new life, knowing that we are always in your presence. Help us to live in this love with one another. We make this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.
