The actions of Mary in today’s Gospel seem strange, Rev. Br. Christopher Johnson, O.P., explains. She opens herself up to ridicule and to scorn because of the extravagance of her action. But those extravagant actions of Mary are founded upon something even more extravagant. The love of Christ for her. Each of us is called to pour out our own expensive perfume, our lives and love, for Jesus Christ because he has given us the Greatest Gift of all. Salvation.
