What it reminds me of is the reality of God. The greatness and glory of God is beyond anything we can imagine. And the Transfiguration of Jesus is a reminder to us of the awesome glory.
Gloria

I live in a city where Laura Branigan’s song Gloria was played over and over again. The song references a woman. But when I heard the song, I thought more of the Gloria at Mass. (I am NOT suggesting we sing Laura Branigan’s version of Gloria for Mass.)

What it reminds me of is the reality of God. The greatness and glory of God is beyond anything we can imagine. And the Transfiguration of Jesus is a reminder to us of the awesome glory.

I know I can be tempted to think of God in terms that make God too much like me. Thank God, Jesus is so much more than simply a “good person.” He is the divine Son of God. He is the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. He is the awesome God who can give us eternal life!

Let us pray.

Dear Jesus, Help me to give my all just as you did. Help me to be generous with my desire to serve you. Help me to love you more, and to love my neighbor as myself. At those times when I am tempted to settle for less than my best, remind me of the grace you have given me. Remind me of all you have done in your passion. I make this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.
