There are two rather interesting persons in today's readings. On the one hand, there is Elijah, the great prophet who does not appear to have been very successful. Despite his faithfulness to God, and the important signs performed through him, the people do not change. Jesus has just fed many, thousands really, with a scant supply of food. And both find themselves seeking out God in silent prayer.
Homily given at Holy Angels Parish, Wood River, Illinois. Readings for Today. Listen to our other homilies.
