Is it really Jesus?

It remains very important to focus on the fact that there is something incredibly different about the risen Jesus. It is important to note that it is not easy for even those who knew Jesus well to recognize him at first after the resurrection. They ask, “Is this really Jesus?”

Some of this is, I suspect, a fear that he will not forgive them. After all, they ran away at the moment he needed them the most. But the most important part is that the glorified and risen Christ is different. He can do amazing things; he bears the marks of the wounds but no longer suffers. Perhaps most importantly, he offers them something amazingly wonderful. The invitation to eternal life. The promise that if they let him save them, they too can live forever.
