God, what are you going to do about it: Homily for Sunday, March 26, 2023

Death. It can feel like it is all around us. We probably know someone who as died. We may have had a loved one who died from some disease. Maybe a victim of crime. Perhaps war or oppression. Why can’t God just take care of it?

God, what are you going to do about it?

“Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Death. It can feel like it is all around us. We probably know someone who as died. We may have had a loved one who died from some disease. Maybe a victim of crime. Perhaps war or oppression.

And the problem of evil in general, perhaps the problem of death particularly, is a very difficult problem to overcome. Why is there evil in the world? Why can’t God just take care of it?
