When we do not want to listen: Homily for Friday, March 24, 2023

Let’s be honest. There are times when we just do not want to listen to God. There are also times when we get really angry at people who challenge us by telling us things we are doing that are not of God. But there needs to be the prophetic voice in every life. And sometimes it takes a challenging shock to get our attention.

When we do not want to listen

Let’s be honest. There are times when we just do not want to listen to God. There are also times when we get really angry at people who challenge us by telling us things we are doing that are not of God. But there needs to be the prophetic voice in every life. And sometimes it takes a challenging shock to get our attention.

The first reading today is a challenge in trying to be open to hear those things we do not want to hear. But it is at precisely those times when we hear what we do not want to hear that we may find ourselves closest to God.
