Seek Forgiveness, Forgive Others
In today’s gospel, Jesus reminds us that God forgives, while at the same time telling us what types of things can stay in the way of receiving God’s forgiveness. Even if we sin over and over again (and I know I do) with sincere contrition and a desire to change, God has mercy on us.
But, if we harden our hearts, if we judge others, if we withhold mercy, then indeed we close ourselves off to God’s love and mercy. is today the day you go to God and beg for His mercy? Do you go to the sacrament of confession to reconcile yourself to God and others?
For this is at the heart of Lent. When it comes to our relationship with God, sometimes we need to swallow our pride. Sometimes we need to consider what exactly is the next small step we take to grow closer to God, knowing that God’s grace makes all things possible.
