Holiness: It is not only for Church
One very important principle for Saint John Baptist de la Salle is that everyone who works in a Lasallian school is a minister. This idea was long before the “Ministerial Exemption” was part of the legal landscape in the United States. For De La Salle, nothing was more important than making his students aware of the salvation of Jesus.
But this awareness happened in a variety of ways. In class, in worship, and in the other aspects of school life. And so athletic coaches in Lasallian schools are also ministers, offering an opportunity for salvation on the court or the field. But the lesson is that coaches do so best by embracing the gift of holiness.
