We Have Family in Ukraine

Critical Update
The following update was provided by Fr. John Maria, a Dominican Friar from the Eastern Province of Saint Joseph (USA). The Dominican Order has been in this part of the world for a very long time, centuries in fact. Given the hostilities in Ukraine, and the impact it has on the Dominicans working in these countries, we will attempt to provide updates as we become aware of them. The update below concerns the Dominicans in Poland.

From Poland….
“Due to the aggression of the Russian troops against Ukraine, our Dominican brothers and sisters working there from today found themselves in a state of danger. We ask you, connected with our Order and the Dominican family, to pray for them through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Protector of Our Order. Let us ask for peace, prudence and good decisions. Let us also pray for all those whom we minister pastoral care there.
Dominican friars have a convent in Kiev (7 brothers) and five religious houses: Lwów (4 brothers), Czortków (3 brothers), Chmielnicki (2 brothers), Fastów (3 brothers) and Kharków (3 brothers). Dominican Sisters of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Dominika have houses in Żółkiew and Czortków, and the sisters from the Congregation of the Dominican Missionary Sisters of Jesus and Mary have houses in Fastów and Kiev. Let us also remember the secular Dominicans who gather in several fraternities in Ukraine.”
Queen of Peace, pray for us.
Pope Francis has asked people all over the world to pray for peace on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Our website will be working to put resources together on our website to assist with this prayer.
