This morning, at the end of the recitation of the Regina Caeli from the Loggia of Blessings, the Holy Father Leo XIV – in the presence of the Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, His Eminence Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, the Secretary of State, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Substitute for General Affairs, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra, the Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, and the Regent of the Pontifical Household, Msgr. Leonardo Sapienza, reopened the papal apartment of the Apostolic Palace, removing the seals affixed on 21 April 2025 following the death of Pope Francis.

“The Vatican has released the schedule of Pope Leo XIV’s liturgical celebrations for the month of May.

During the month dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy Father will preside over various liturgical celebrations and make several visits to Papal Basilicas in Rome.”

Sunday, May 18th, Pope Leo XIV will preside over the Mass of Inauguration of his Petrine Ministry in St. Peter’s Square, at 10:00am (Rome Time; 4am Eastern Daylight Time).

Tuesday, May 20th, Pope Leo will make a pilgrimage to he Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. He will visit the tomb of Saint Paul.

Sunday, May 25, Pope Leo will preside a Eucharistic Celebration at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran at 5 PM (Rome Time; 11am Eastern Daylight Time).

Sunday, May 25, 7 PM, the Pope will visit the Basilica of St. Mary Major, where he will venerate the revered icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Salus Populi Romani.
