What’s been going on? Some website issues for 2025

You may have asked yourself lately, what’s been going on the friar website. You may have noticed a sluggish loading issue, changes to the look of the website, and times where the website did not seem to work at all. Below is an explanation. Hopefully the problems have been fixed and you will see a smoother and cleaner website.

What’s been going on?

You may have noticed that April 2025 has been quite a month for thefriar website. It seemed a good time for a new look for the website. That was the original goal. However, in reworking the website other internal issues caused the change to not be so good.

The first problem is that the new theme for the website seemed to cause things to run more slowly. Different themes were tried, which accounts for those times when you may have seen different looks for the website.

Then it seemed that once we got the theme issues fixed, other things impacted the look of the website and the performance of the website. Little by little we sought to address these issues, sometimes with success, other times not.

The problems were internal, “behind the scenes” issues. They were not always issues that were easy to deal with, and they were not always easy to spot for an amateur working on a website.

Hopefully the solutions we tried last night will be the long term fix to the problems we faced. If all works well, you should see a website that runs smoother, and gradually provides a better overall experience.
