Advent Reflection: Do you like what you see?: Sunday, December 18, 2022

Advent Reflection. When was the last time God called you to do something you did not want to do? It may be you thought the challenge was too great, or perhaps it was simply something you did not want to do. Potentially you thought it a bad idea.

Advent Reflection: Do you like what you see?

When was the last time God called you to do something you did not want to do? It may be you thought the challenge was too great, or perhaps it was simply something you did not want to do. Potentially you thought it a bad idea.

For whatever reason, was there a recent time where you felt that following God meant submitting to God’s will over your own? King Ahaz was unwilling to submit to God, despite having the prophet Isaiah tell him again and again to trust God over human protection. He won’t, and it ends badly for Ahaz.

Joseph on the other hand, trust in the angel, follows God’s will, and it leads to holiness. By submitting to what God wants him to do, Joseph becomes a vehicle of God’s great plan and a vessel of grace.

The question is how we react when we see what it is that God wants us to do. And, what we do when we may not always like, at first, what we see. God wants us to follow his will. Will we?

Each day during the season of Advent, you will find an advent reflection from faculty and students at Christian Brothers College High School. To find all the reflections, go to our Advent Reflections page.
