Gloom and Darkness: Can Things Get Better?: Faculty Advent Reflection for Friday, December 2, 2022
Advent Reflection. Life will throw you lots of curve balls. When these challenges come, and I promise you, they will, which path will you choose? I think it comes down to this…“you can either choose to trust God or freak out.”

Gloom and Darkness: Can Things Get Better?
Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the gloom and darkness of this world. There are so many problems and so much pain that I can become discouraged – will things ever get better? How will we survive this?
But then I am reminded who is in my corner. The same person who opened the eyes of the blind man in today’s Gospel. “Let it be done for you according to your faith.” But only after he asked them – “Do you believe that I can do this?”
Do I believe that Jesus can heal my blindness? For I am often blind to the solutions that can encourage and the help I can give to others. Help me Lord, to use your eyes of faith to see what I can do to be part of the solution to the very things I worry about. And if I cannot be part of the solution, open my eyes to see you in my corner encouraging me to never give up and helping me remember who is really in charge.
Each day during the season of Advent, you will find advent reflections from faculty and students at Christian Brothers College High School. To find all the reflections, go to our Advent Reflections page.
