How to find meaning and purpose in your life: homily for Thursday, September 22, 2022

Meaning and purpose. We are now listening to readings at Mass from the wisdom books. They are a collection of truths that can be gleaned by observation, reflection and reason. Today in Ecclesiastes, there is the question of meaning and purpose. In Qoheleth’s life, things seems meaningless. Nothing seems exceptional or outstanding. The same things happen over and over again. Even his life will soon be forgotten after he dies. We know real meaning and purpose can be found when we answer the question Herod poses. Who is Jesus? What place does he have in my life? What does he want me to do? Who does he want me to be?
