How to Become Accountable to God: Homily for Tuesday, May 17, 2022
Accountable to God. Accountability is a buzzword today. Businesses do performance reviews to hold others accountable. Schools become accredited for the sake of accountability. And in a way, this morning’s first reading provides a record of accountability for Paul as he recounts to the disciples all the good things God has done.

Accountable to God

Accountability is a buzzword today. Businesses do performance reviews to hold others accountable. Schools become accredited for the sake of accountability. And in a way, this morning’s first reading provides a record of accountability for Paul as he recounts to the disciples all the good things God has done.
But there is an interesting bit of accountability for you and me this morning. How are we accountable to God? And how often do we share with others the good things that God is doing in our lives? For if we believe that our faith is something so important we allow it to change every aspect of our lives, then it only makes sense to share what God does with others.
And when we do this, we do, in a way, learn how to be more accountable in our prayer lives. We learn to be more accountable to the sacraments. And we learn how to be a more faithful disciple of Jesus.
